Your First Therapy Session

Starting therapy can bring up a mix of emotions—relief, curiosity, maybe even some nervousness. Whether you’ve been thinking about it for a while or just recently felt the nudge to reach out, your first session is an important step toward feeling more like yourself again.

At Seaside Mental Wellness, this first session is about creating a calm space. A space to feel seen, heard, and supported without any additional pressure or expectations. You don’t need to know exactly what to say or where to start—just showing up is enough.

🧘‍♀️What Happens in the First Session?

Think of your first session as an introduction—not a deep dive into everything all at once. We’ll start by talking about what led you here and what you’re hoping to explore or change. There’s no pressure to have all the answers or to share your entire story right away.

This is a space to pause, breathe, and begin again—with compassion, clarity, and care.

Together, we’ll:

  • Talk through what’s been feeling heavy, unclear, or overwhelming

  • Identify your personal goals for therapy

  • Explore a few steps to help you move forward

  • Begin mapping out what healing might look like for you

By the end of our session, most clients feel a sense of relief—like they’re finally giving themselves permission to slow down and be supported.

Whether you’re navigating anxiety, burnout, a major life transition, or just trying to reconnect with yourself again, therapy here is about more than just talking—it’s about healing in a way that feels grounded and real.

My approach blends evidence-based practices like:

These aren’t just therapeutic tools—they’re ways to help you gain insight, regulate your emotions, and feel more balanced in your daily life.

💛 What You Don’t Need to Worry About

You don’t have to “have it all figured out.”

Therapy at Seaside isn’t about fixing you. It’s about supporting you as you reconnect with the parts of yourself that have been overlooked, buried under stress, or lost in the busyness of life.
